In 1975, two men had a vision to create a luxury sports car that was not only beautiful but also practical for everyday use. This level of comfort or modification in a sports car hadn’t existed before, and what came of that was the Scarab Z. Although the dream was big, the resources didn’t last as long as they’d hoped, so after production of a handful of these unique cars, they had to throw in the towel. They lost touch over the years, and that was that. Or so they thought...

Never did they imagine that over 40 years later, they would discover that their vision had created an underground community of loyal car lovers that have continued to keep their incredible idea alive with the restoration and preservation of these cars. For the first time ever, these two men will be reunited with the cars they created and the community surrounding them to celebrate the incredible legacy that is the Scarab Z.

So, you might be asking, what are we doing? Well, we're documenting the story of the restoration of two old friends, the preservation of legendary cars, and the story that is finally being brought to life. This story deserves to be told with great care, skill, and commitment to detail. This documentary will include interviews of both Brian Morrow & Keith Bergey, as well as various members of the Scarab community including Randy Lewis, Scott McElroy, and Mike Runnels to bring this legend to life. In addition, you will get an inside look into ZCon 2019 and the indescribable moments of car lovers coming together. And of course, lots & lots of exclusive footage of the Scarab Z. Follow along as we bring you Restored: The Story of the Scarab Z.

8/16/19 - MERCH is coming!

We are SO EXCITED to announce that we will be adding a Scarab Gear section here on restoredfilm.com! This will include limited edition Scarab logo buttons & necklaces, as well as t-shirts, tank tops, and sweatshirts. We will also be hosting a platform to sell Resurrecting The Legend: The Real Datsun Scarab Story, the book that is a perfect compliment to complete all your knowledge of the Scarab Z!

Stay tuned for the release date, we are hoping to release them in time for Christmas!

7/21/19 - Filming Complete

Our week at ZCON 2019 was absolutely amazing! Scarabs were front and center for the convention, and inspired consistent conversation amongst participants and spectators alike.

To kick off the week, Brian was reunited with his prototype car, Sliver, which brought the whole room to tears of reunion magic. The group had kept this as a surprise for Brian and were beyond thrilled to see him so moved to see this car in such incredible condition.

The lineup of Scarabs was such a beautiful thing to see, and the owners coming together to celebrate this car with the Z community was just as special, and better yet, we had the honor of capturing it all on film!

We were booked moment to moment with capturing all of the special moments throughout these few days. One of the highlights for us as a production team was being able to take these amazing cars out on the open road together, for the first time, and capture a sunset drive. It was just about 1,000 degrees outside, but our beautiful Scarabs and their community still came out to take part in this legendary drive.

We also had the privilege to interview Brian, Keith, and 3 members of the Scarab community including two Scarab owners along with the author of Resurrecting The Legend: The Real Datsun Scarab Story Randall Lewis.

Now we begin the long process of editing. We want to release this incredible story as quickly as possible, but we also want to get it just right. We are committed to telling this legend with great care and attention to detail.

7/13/19 - Prepping For Branson

Branson is just around the corner, and we are busy finalizing all of our footage plans for the documentary! It is currently 2:15am, in fact, and I am here finalizing some of the details like this webpage so everyone can follow along any way they choose throughout the filming and editing process.

That being said, I will do my best to update you all throughout filming week daily, as well as occasional updates as the editing process unravels over the next few months.
